Luna Interview
Although a few years ago now, how important was your hook up with Q-dance for your career development and how did the hook up come about?
The hook up is a long time ago and started after i visit there oldstyle events and send them a mix cd. Then after a couple of weeks i called and asked them if i could replace a dj who was not able to play at one of the events. After my set they were very enthousiastic, and that was the beginning. The hook up was quite important. At that time we were both smaller. Q with there events and me as a dj. We grew together.
Your widely recognised as a hardstyle DJ, but you seem to be bringing a lot of harder techno into your sets lately. What's brought about this development? How is it impacting on your sets and how well is the crossing of genres being received with your audience?
I always played different styles and sometimes I mix them together. Most of the time the crowd loves it. It keeps the scene alive.
You've been running your own label, StraightOn Recordings, since 2002, tell us more about the label.
I stopped with StraightOn Recordings in the beginning of 2007. After 5 years it was time for a change. My new label Minus is More is a Hardstyle label with a twist of differen't styles. Keep your eyes open for the new releases. 2009 will be the year of MInus is More... ;-)
What are the pros and cons of trying to DJ, produce and run a label at the same time?
It sometimes is very busy when you're flying from country to country. But with my productions and label I can spread my style all over the world. This is what I like to do most.
You've firmly established yourself in key countries and continents around the world, how does the UK audience compare to those of other countries, particularly Holland?
The UK crowd is very energetic and enthousiastic. Sometimes even more than in Holland. I always love to come and play in the UK.
You've had many career highs and played some fantastic events and parties, what has been your best moments and why?
That's difficult, but the best moment was for me Luna the one man show in the Gelredome in Arnhem. There were more than 17000 people just for me. I played a set with all the harder styles. It was an amazing night
