Marco V Interview
Musically you fall between genres, there is techno feel, along with trance & progressive… How would you describe your sound?
It's almost impossible for me to say what one or two styles I play, because for me, I just play and produce what I like, not just one sound. Anything that grabs my attention, any melody or beat that I get in my head, if the sound is right to me then I'll go with it. It doesn't matter to me if the finished product sounds completely different to the track I made before.
What do you look for when signing tracks to 'In Charge'?
The only thing I care about when I sign tracks is that I have to be able to play it myself, it has to be a good track for my own DJ set. So again there's a very diverse scope for what I might sign :)
On the singles front 'Coma Aid' is still rocking the clubs, now we have 'A Journey into Sound' what's happening album wise, surely we're due another?
It's funny you should ask me that ;) My artist album is almost finished and will be released in May this year. I'm very excited about it, this is the first studio album from me since 2005/2006 so it's pretty much three years since my last one. The next single that you'll be hearing from me is called Unprepared, and features Benjamin Bates on the vocals.
A lot of DJ's are remix/ reediting not only there own tracks, but other peoples tracks for there dj sets, is this something that you do? Could you let us know a couple of these to look out for when you play Inside Out?
I normally do edit tracks by other producers and make bootlegs for me to use in my sets, it just makes it a bit more interesting for me and the people on the dance floor. If I'm in the studio producing, I'll normally take some time out to put my own twist on things, although at the moment I've been that busy to finishing the album that I don't have any new things that I did recently.
Have you always wanted to be a dj / producer? How did you start out?
I've been a DJ for over 20 years now and producing my own music since 1994. I was just a bedroom DJ who played in the local clubs, then when I started to make my own music, everything just seemed to completely take off.
You've dj'ed all around the world released timeless track's and album's. What have been some of the highlights in your career?
I think my three albums are my highlights. Producing your own stuff feels great, when you've got the finished article in your hand and it's all your work it's really satisfying. Then when everyone goes out and buys it, and comes up to you and tells you how much they love your work, that really is unbeatable J My albums have definitely helped bring me to where I am today.
What changes have you noticed in the clubbing scene over the last few years - do you feel that it is a strong as ever or has it become too commercialised and driven by money?
Yeah I think there are too many people in this business just for the money, but there are still a lot of people who doing this because they love the music. I know which category I fall into and I'm lucky to be surrounded by people who are on the same wavelength.
